SuperHalfs: the six half marathons and how to complete the series

SuperHalfs is a series of six big European half marathons, a little like the World Marathon Majors for the half distance. Run all six and you get the SuperMedal at the finish of your last one. Five races started the series in 2022 (Lisbon, Prague, Copenhagen, Cardiff and Valencia), and Berlin joined in 2024.

“Climb” is the total elevation gain of the course. “Usual start temp.” is the average temperature at the start time over the last 10 years on race day. Dates marked “est.” follow the race’s usual slot and are not yet confirmed. Compare them side by side on the SuperHalfs list.

How the series works

  • Free to join. You sign up on the SuperHalfs website and get a free digital SuperPassport with a number. The series itself costs nothing; you pay each race’s own entry fee.
  • Add your number when you enter. Each race’s registration form asks for your SuperPassport number, and that is how your finish is stamped. Forgot it? You can claim the result afterwards with your bib number and chip time.
  • Any order, no deadline. Since 2025 there is no time limit for completing all six.
  • Past races count. Results from 2022 onwards count (from 2024 for Berlin), so a half you’ve already run in one of these cities may already be your first stamp.
  • The reward. The SuperMedal is handed out at the finish of your sixth race, and your name goes into the series’ Hall of Fame.

Getting a place

SuperHalfs doesn’t hand out race entries: you enter each race on its own site, and being in the series gives you no priority. Prague Half Marathon, Cardiff Half Marathon and Valencia Half Marathon use a ballot, and the others are first come, first served but can sell out months ahead. If you miss out, charities offer guaranteed places in return for fundraising (several run all-six packages), and travel agencies sometimes still have entries for sold-out races. Marathon lotteries explained covers how ballots work.

Planning all six

The races fall into two seasons: Lisbon, Prague and Berlin in spring, and Copenhagen, Cardiff and Valencia in autumn. Many runners do the series over two or three years, a couple of races per season. In 2027 Prague (3 Apr 2027) and Berlin (4 Apr 2027) fall on the same weekend, so you’d have to pick one, or run both on consecutive days if you’re very well prepared.

For a personal best, Valencia is one of the fastest half marathons in the world: the men’s world record has been set there more than once. See the fastest half marathons in Europe for how the courses compare.

Each race page has the course profile, race-day weather and travel time from your city, and planning a race trip covers the rest.
